Background:
Started racing for months until I felt like I could drive the wheels off the car.

Then I tried "multiplayer" mode to race on-line with REAL drivers and found out how different the racing was. The key that started my league experience was when I realized how bad I really was against real drivers versus the Artificial Intelligence game drivers supplied with Nascar4 program. So... I decided to start a Nascar 4 racing league (N4Nites). As technology progressed to Nascar Racing 2003, the popularity of "N4Nites" grew so much, that we decided to keep the name running and use the new Nascar Racing Season 2003 upgrade and physics change. The rest is history.

With steam rising from under the hood and his transmission smoking, Dave performed his last burnout of his racing career at Homestead as he retired victorious to sit in his new 2008 position of Race Commentator for the Virtual Racing Network.

Dave Porter's Racing history.

Racing since 2002 - Dave has had many accomplishments.

Dave started his rookie season in the #11 USA car with no wins and averaged mid field in his finishes but came into the following years with a lot of extra steam and experience.

He ended up winning the Winston Cup in 2003 with 9 track wins that ultimately placed him in the Winston Cup Hall of Fame.

In 2004 Dave added a new series to his racing schedule and started substitute driving Craftsman Trucks during his Cup season and picked up a few Busch divisional races. Dave won 1 Busch race that year and several Cup races but his best performance was being a part of a team that brought about an unstoppable force. His team took 1st and 2nd session overall points and won the Best Overall Team Points Award for that year. On his team were 2 full time drivers;
Chris Woodby (#11) and Harrison James (#40).

In 2005 - Dave was close to a championship but placed 2nd overall - getting beat out by Mike Bragg (#76). Dave had several wins that year but it was apparent Dave dominated at Road courses. Although he did not sweep both, he won Infineon in 04 - placing 2nd at Watkins Glenn, and in 05 won Watkins Glenn and placed 2nd at Infineon.

In 2006, Dave joined up as a full-time Craftsman truck driver and Nextel Cup driver. Dave added a few more wins to his record in the Trucks division and in that same year also won the Nextel Cup title with a sweep at the road courses and
1 total domination race credited.

This year- several divisions opened up. The Busch Grand Nationals opened running half a year and Dave finished a Champion. The Car Of Tomorrow (COT) opened after that running a mini-series and Dave won 3 races there too. It appeared 207 was going to be a great year for the #24 team and they ran consistently in the upper groove of the points standings.

Dave missed 1 race this year - and DNF in 3 races but he still maintained a positive impression approaching each new track and that attitude kept him running up front for many of the Cup races. Dave faced off against a total of over 40 drivers this year winning 6 races, an exhibition race and took his 2nd in a row road course sweep. Dave said, "This 2007 Nextel Cup Championship was the most challenging and hardest to win out of all the Cups and wins I've had ever. The competition has been increased to an astonishing professional level to where at the end of each race, you need to pry your fingers off the wheel and wring out your sweat-drenched shirt. This has been an incredible year both in racing and the drivers on the track. Each year brings new setup knowledge and a new set of drivers to race against. I've been privileged to be able to compete against some of the absolute best drivers out there in the country and it was not only a miracle but a blessing to win the 2007 Nextel Cup. I plan to retire this year (on a high note) and jump into the sports casting realm of racing. You could say I'm hanging up my helmet for a tie and I'm sure I will have just as much fun watching who will emerge the next Nextel Cup champion as anyone else in 2008."
